Anyone that is new to Google Adsense likely has a number of questions yet there is very little documentation online. Over the course of time, we are going to try to answer some of the more commonly asked questions related to Adsense. If you are looking for specific answers, just Google your question with “Wojdylo” at the end to get answers from someone that has made a significant amount of money on Adsense. So, why do the little yellow boxes show up?
When Google Adsense first came out, almost everyone was verified within seconds. As soon as you put the Adsense code on your website, you immediately started seeing ads. This is no longer the case. With the amount of spam websites increasing each and every day, Google has taken the proper steps to make certain these websites do not make money on their ad network. For this reason, Google often puts up yellow boxes before it will start servicing ads.
Just because you are seeing the yellow box it does not mean your account has been suspended or you cannot get ads for your website. It simply means a Google employee must look at your website and verify that it is legit. Note that you do not have to have a $10,000 website or a professionally designed logo and interface to have Google ads on your site. In fact, if you have a legitimate WordPress website you will likely see ads showing up within 24 hours of inserting the code.
If it takes more than two or three days for your yellow boxes to turn into ads you may have inserted the code incorrectly. Go back to your Adsense dashboard and make certain the code you have inserted is “live” and not “new”. If it still says “new” you may have an issue you will have to take up with Google. Unfortunately, it is not easy to contact Google these days. That said, there are a number of message boards and information websites that can help you diagnose your problems.
Ultimately, patience is the key. If you can just wait 24 to 48 hours you will likely find that your ads start to show up. Do not feel as if you are going to miss out on thousands of dollars. Google is simply doing this to cover their own rear end. If a website is not legitimate they are going to refund advertisers and no money will be made anyway.
A word of caution – do not make a website solely to make money off Google Adsense. For years Google has stated that Adsense heavy websites are not healthy for the Internet. We have all been to websites that are littered with ads and we cannot even find the content. If your website is covered in ads there is a good chance you will see your search rankings decrease and you could even suffer from a Google Algorithm Penalty.
If you create a website in which users value and read your content you can make money off Google ads. That said, it takes quite a bit of traffic to produce a significant amount of money through Adsense. In the near future we will write an article that explains just how much traffic you will have to receive to make over $100 a day, $10,000 a month or $100,000 a year. In the meantime, try not to worry too much about the little yellow Adsense box.
