Why Do Alabama and Clemson have 2-19 on Their Jerseys in the Championship Game?

On Monday, January 7th, 2019 Alabama will take on Clemson for the College Football Playoff National Championship. This is the third time in four years they have played in the championship game. It is the fourth time in four years they have played in the College Football Playoff (CFP). Every single year, the teams wear the logo for the CFP on the shoulder of their jerseys. It looks like 2-19. It is actually 2019 with the 0 being a football with laces. The football’s laces look like a dash making it look like 2-19.

If you are surfing the net to figure out what 2-19 means, it is simply the year. It does not signify the date February 19th which is what most people were thinking.
