What Do the Candy Canes Mean on the Snapchat Map?

On the Snapchat Map, users are currently seeing Christmas Trees and candy canes throughout the United States and other countries. At this point, we have yet to figure out why candy canes are showing up. From our knowledge, it looks to be very random. There is no correlation to the amount of activity in an area and the candy canes that show up.

We are also under the assumption that the Christmas trees are random. Have you noticed Christmas Trees or Candy Canes in a specific town or city for a reason? Do you think it is completely random? Comment below with the city or town in which you are seeing candy canes.

I think the trees with snow mean that there is snow in that area and the trees without snow means there is no snow in that area. That is just my guess though, maybe they are just there for the holidays.
