Today, Monday, November 4th, 2013 I was on the phone with Michael Bennett when I decided to take a short walk with my D5200. I had taken a quick trip around Chapel Hill earlier in the day and I noticed the sky would be absolutely perfect for an HDR photo. After walking a little ways I realized it might be getting too close to the sunset for me to get any decent shots from where I was. Fortunately, I stumbled into this:
When I posted this on Google+ several users pointed out the clouds were outlining the house on the right. I had absolutely zero intention of it coming out this way as I snapped it quickly.
I was on the phone with Michael discussing social media and Internet marketing in general. He was blabbering on about something so I set my Nexus 4 smartphone on the ground and snapped this photo. I was surprised to find no sun flare spots. Sometimes I feel as if sun flares look fine and there are other instances in which they ruin the entire picture. I have some photo editing software that can take the sun flares out but I prefer not to do that. The only software editing I do is to render in HDR and apply a fitting filter. My favorite filter on HDR EFex 2 Pro on Nik Software is “Deep 1”. In fact, this is the filter I use with almost all the HDR photos I share on Google+, Pinterest and Reddit.
There are plenty of great photographs that can be taken in the Meadowmont area. I am fortunate to live in the heart of it so it is literally a hop, skip and a jump to get some amazing HDR photos. I have plenty more that I will be sharing over the course of the next few weeks and months. I took a shot of the Meadowmont pond beside 54 with the sun coming through the clouds. You can check it out here but I will do a full blog post later on. I am going to do my best to update unique blog posts explaining my adventures but it may take me a little bit of time to get caught up. I have been on trips to Saxapahaw, Yanceyville and even into Virginia. Every adventure I take allows me to realize just how much I enjoy photography.
If there are any suggestions you have for some unique HDR photos please feel free to let me know. Also, you are free to use any of my photos with proper attribution. Just mention any of the places in which I share the photos.
