Just the other day, a friend of mine sent me a video of a dentist getting a “video review” via Instagram. This was an interesting way to get reviews as it was on the dentist’s individual Instagram profile and not the profile of the actual dental practice. While getting a review via Instagram videos or Facebook videos is not a bad idea, it is important to remember who is following you on what accounts. It is also extremely important to remember that most potential patients are also going to complete their due diligence and look at the other pictures and videos on that particular account.
The dentist I previously mentioned also has several videos of himself working out and going on vacation. In my opinion, this is not professional. Those that are going to seek out a dentist do not want to see what their dentist is doing in his personal time. It would have been much more effective to have the video review on the Dental practice Instagram account.
A great way to promote reviews is via a plugin on WordPress. If you have a dental website that is WordPress, you should have no problems finding a plugin that will display your Google, Facebook, HealthGrades, Yelp and other reviews. This Belmar, Colorado dentist has multiple plugins on their review page so you can get a full grasp of their practice. This is something I would recommend. Remember that not everyone has Yelp or Facebook. Giving potential patients the chance to read reviews on multiple different websites is very important.
Snapchat is a very unusual form of communication these days. Remember that Snapchat videos disappear after 24 hours. This means patients will only get to see this “online review” if they watch your Snapchat story every single day. While Snapchat has a very active user base, it can be difficult to make sure you reach them all; especially if they are not checking the app on a daily basis. Having Snapchat as a dentist is a good idea, but you may want to use it for something besides reviews.
Whether you are a local female dentist or a specialist that only does root canals, you can benefit by reaching your audience online or through social media apps. I would suggest understanding the age of your patients before spending a significant amount of time on any social media app.
