Showtime’s revival of Twin Peaks received rave reviews with early reviews to IMDB giving the 3rd season of the show a 9.7. Anything above an 8.5 is considered a great show and above 9.0 would be considered amazing. With a rating at 9.7 I thought it was well worth the watch. Unfortunately, I was very wrong.
The first episode starts very weird. In fact, there are hundreds of articles on the Internet asking what we just saw with the premiere episode of Twin Peaks on Showtime. Throughout the entire first episode there are dozes of WTF moments. One would think it gets better with episode 2. Maybe they clear some things up. Well, not really.
Unless you are really into dissecting alien and sci-fi shows, I don’t see how you can continue to watch Twin Peaks. I gave them two hours of my life and I want it back. Honestly, I have no idea what is going on with any of the characters.
Sadly, Showtime is missing a huge opportunity here. It was reported that Showtime had the largest signup weekend ever for their streaming service ShowtimeAnytime when they announced they were going to pre release episodes 3 and 4. Is is possible that people are going to continue to watch in an attempt to figure out what in the hell is going on?
There is too much other great TV out there to continue to watch this series. There are a few actors and actresses in the show that I like, but overall, it is not the type of show that is going to draw a mainstream audience. It will be very interesting to see how the number of viewers drops over the next few weeks.
What did you think about the first two episodes of Twin Peaks? Are you going to continue watching to figure out what is going on?
