It is very evident that the Google Algorithm has updated some of its parameters and standards. It was reported over the weekend that there was some movement, but the movement really started taking shape on Tuesday, April 24th and Wednesday, April 25th.
For a very highly competitive keyword we have seen one particular website as high as #3 and as low as page 7 within the hour. It has been all over the map. We have also noticed a number of websites that once had front page rankings have dropped to the bottom or page 2 or the top of page 3.
What did the Google algorithm update in late April 2018? At this point, we are still digging through the data. From our Google Analytics and delayed Google Search Console, we continue to notice that websites with high quality, unique content and a strong link portfolio are benefitting from the latest Google Algorithm Update.
While Domain Authority and all the tools that rate websites should be taken with a grain of salt, it is quite evident that weak websites are moving down in the search rankings. What is interesting about this particular algorithm update is the fact that it is so active. Most of the time, the rankings change and they are done for a few days before they change again. Now, the rankings are changing in real time. You can refresh the search results and find completely different domains ranking at the top of page 1.
