Well, we have heard plenty of warnings that Google was going to let the Panda algorithm update loose sometime in late June or early July. Today, July 6th, 2015 I was looking at my Google real time analytics for a few clients and my own personal website and there was a pop in traffic around 3:30 pm est which would be 12:30 pm pst which is where Google is located. This might be completely unrelated to the Google Panda update but something is definitely going on.
After seeing the traffic pop I decided to look at some of the highly competitive keyword phrases for my clients. One niche that has definitely seen some movement is the orthodontics and dental niche. One of my orthodontist clients saw a huge jump in rankings. In fact, he is front and center at the top of page 1 for the keyword phrase he has been trying to optimize for for months. He is also seeing an increase in ranking on other keywords as well.
I did some research for personal injury lawyers and did not see much movement. That said, it does not mean there won’t be plenty of movement in the next 24 to 48 hours. This is something I am going to track closely over the course of the evening and into tomorrow.
As I have predicted for quite some time, it looks like Google is ranking websites with consistent updates and topical authority. The increase in rankings that I am seeing are for websites that have published multiple unique blog posts on said topic. These blog posts and articles have also been published in the last few months.
