Over the next several years we expect to see all technology companies attempt to get into the TV content war. Google is the next in line as they plan to offer Google “Unplugged” to cost conscience Americans looking to cut cable costs. Today, October 19th, 2016, CBS signed with Google to air some of their TV shows. Note that this deal does not include Showtime so do not expect to see Billions or Shameless on Google Unplugged in 2017.
Google Unplugged will include content from YouTube Red and likely other popular YouTube channels. If you are a YouTube star you may find that you are contacted to make a little bit of extra money through your videos. How awesome will it be to see your face on cable TV?
As we learn more about the TV shows that are offered, we will post them on this resource. Our goal is for this to be a TV guide for those considering Google Unplugged for around $40 a month in 2017. If you are currently using Time Warner, Comcast, DirecTV or another satellite provider you may want to look at your bill and see if you can save money by signing up for Google Unplugged.
It will be interesting to see if Google gives a discount to those that are signed up with Google Fiber. I guess we will have to wait until 2017 to figure out just what TV shows are available and the exact monthly cost. If you have any further information do not hesitate to comment below.
