MSQRD Dead on Arrival and Will Never Compete with Snapchat

Well, Facebook has done it again. They are going to do everything in their power to try and get Snapchat users to move back to their products. It won’t happen with MSQRD. For those that do not know, the Snapchat selfie filters have become extremely popular as celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner are using them every day. Facebook decided to jump in the bandwagon as they purchase MSQRD just yesterday. Well, today it is done. Dead. No chance. Forget it!

As someone that tries to figure out ways to generate traffic to my website I go into every new app without any bias. In fact, I hope the app is a huge hit as it will allow me to create content that will be searched. As I always do, I did a little bit of research about MSQRD to see if there were any users looking for information. When searching Twitter, this was the first thing I found:

I don’t have to do any more research. I know, without a shadow of a doubt, millennials are not going to use this app. While Laura Evans is likely a wonderful woman and a fantastic reporter and journalist she is a mom. Students are not going to download an app that mom thinks is cool.

To make matters even worse for MSQRD there is not any option to add or find friends. You do have the ability to share to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram but you cannot add your own friends. One of the reasons Snapchat lenses or face filters have become so popular is because users can share these funny videos with their friends. Some will say that MSQRD users can share with their friends on Instagram but that is one extra step that smartphone users do not want to take.

While I am 100% certain MSQRD will never take off most of the social media experts are probably all over it trying to make the funniest faces with the filters and share them on Instagram where they will get 12 likes by other social media experts. Have fun in your app that no one will use.
