At CodeCon Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel announced users will not have to press and hold their screen to view content in the near future. I am not certain if this is limited to just stories/videos or if it includes pictures. If Spiegel is announcing it now we can imagine there will be an update in the next few months. Spiegel announced the return of Snapchat Best Friends in late January 2015 and the emoji best friends were released on April 6th, 2015. This means the press to view could be gone by the middle of the summer. Here is the tweet:
Snapchat users: u won’t have to press and hold much longer to watch content. Co working to change that. –Evan Spiegel #CodeCon

I think this will be a fantastic option for longer Snapchat Stories. When watching some of the Life City stories it can take forever holding your thumb or finger on the screen. Maybe Snapchat will offer an option to not hold to view if the story is over 30 seconds or something in that area. It will be interesting to see how this develops. Spiegel has been in the news a lot over the last few days. I would imagine we won’t hear much from him until the next major Snapchat app update.
