In early January 2016 Uber decided to cut fares in 48 cities. Some of these cities include: Albuquerque, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Baton Rouge, Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit, Fresno, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Miami, Minneapolis, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Raleigh-Durham, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Tucson, and Wilmington, N.C. If you are an Uber driver there is a chance you will be getting paid less per trip.
Uber decided to cut fares in an attempt to get more riders to use the Uber service. From personal experience, I can say that I have earned much more since the fare cut. I may be receiving less per fare but I am getting many more rides. In fact, in Chapel Hill, NC there has been a surge pricing for much of the time since the new fares have come out. Uber knows their business better than anyone so if you are a driver concerned you are going to make less just relax and wait for increase in number of requests.
Are you an Uber driver that has seen a drop in your income? Do you think the fare cut is going to put you out of business?
