Inactive Accounts Really Being Deleted on Snapchat in July 2019?

We have heard numerous sources report that Snapchat will be deleting inactive accounts starting in July 2019. The rumor floating around is from the “creator of Snapchat” who is worried the app has too many users and is slowing down. This is absolutely not the case as Snapchat wants as many users as possible. When they go to investors, they want to report 200+ million users. The do want as many active users as possible as well, but they are not going to delete inactive accounts.

You may also have read or heard that on July 28th, 2020 Snapchat will be closing or shutting down. This is part of the same rumor and is not true. You can find the full text of the rumor below:

Hi, this is a message from the creator of Snapchat and he tells you a little bit about what will happen on discord on July 28th. Please do not send this back to the person you received it. Dear Snapchat members, Snapchat is supposed to close on July 28th, 2020 because it has become too populated. There have been many members complaining that Snapchat has become very slow. Indicate that there are many active members of discord but also many new members. We will send this message to see if the members are active or not. If you are active please send to 15 other users using copy and paste to show that you are still active. Those who do not send this message within 2 weeks will be deleted without hesitation to make more space. Send this message to all your friends to show that you are still active and that you will not be deleted.
