Orthodontists on TikTok

There is little argument to be made that the most popular app for anyone under the age of 21 is TikTok. All political discussion aside, TikTok is the best app for viral content. There are TikTok influencers that gain between three and five million followers every single day. So, it will likely be the case that many orthodontists and dentists hop on TikTok in the near future. This makes sense because the target audience for orthodontists is teenagers and young adults looking for braces or Invisalign.

Our Crestview, Florida orthodontist friend Dr. Clay Sims has been ahead of many trends when it comes to Internet marketing, online appointments and social media. With a popular app like TikTok gaining steam, it is now time for orthodontists that were ahead of the curve with Instagram and Facebook to gain a following on TikTok.

Unfortunately, TikTok is not as easy as just snapping a photo, uploading it through an app and getting followers. TikTok’s algorithm is the best social media algorithm there is. Reddit was this for awhile but TikTok has clearly taken the top spot. To get popular on TikTok you must have amazing content. Having an orthodontist dance (poorly) is not going to get any engagement on TikTok. There needs to be some creativity and orthodontists need to figure out how they can follow the trends of the popular songs that people like Charli D’Amelio and Addison Rae are dancing to. Some orthodontics offices with a larger marketing push, like Waxhaw, NC orthodontist Chad Johnson Orthodontics may move money away from Facebook, Yelp and other places and into TikTok.
