Yoga or Pilates YouTube Shorts Channel – How to Get More Views

Yoga and Pilates Instructors Gain Traction on Video Websites

Short form video just works with any type of fitness. Most people that are into group fitness are looking to improve. Is there a better way to improve than to see an expert show you exactly how to perform a movement or exercise? This is why YouTube Shorts have become so popular amongst the fitness community. It is very easy to pull out a phone, do a quick 10 second video and upload it to YouTube for the world to see.

What makes YouTube incredible is the amazing algorithm that Google has deployed into YouTube. While most of the AI advancements have not been great, the one that has is the YouTube algorithm. Even if you have zero subscribers, if you product good fitness content, YouTube will push your content to like minded users. If you post 10 videos, you are going to find that your short videos receive thousands of views.

That said, this is a testing stage for YouTube when it comes to your account. You may have instant success and get 10,000 views but only 12 new subscribers. What makes success on YouTube so difficult is understanding the metrics that matter. Do likes matter more than view time? Does total view time matter more than new vs returning viewers? YouTube Studio has hundreds of metrics to obsess over. Fortunately, you do not have to worry about that as we know exactly how the YouTube Shorts algorithm works. Early History of YouTube Shorts

In September of 2020 many social media “experts” poked fun at YouTube for trying to get into short form video. We were very early adopters as we knew that Google owning YouTube meant they were likely not to give up on short form video the way other companies did. While the first year or two of YouTube Shorts was downright bad, it was an opportunity for Google to deploy their AI algorithms on short form video content. Now, in 2026, YouTube Shorts are quickly catching TikTok videos and will likely be the dominate player in years to come. Why is YouTube going to win?

YouTube is going to win the short form video war because they have the most money. It costs a lot of money to host user submitted video content. Sora, OpenAI’s attempt at AI slop videos, was shuttered in March 2026 because it was too expensive. Estimates were OpenAI was spending $15 million a day on Sora. If we know it is incredibly expensive to host video, wouldn’t it make sense that the company that started user generated video on the Internet would win?

YouTube fought the battle of hosting video content as far back as 2005. While TikTok, Upscrolled and other new social media players try to increase their exposure, they are going to have to ask investors for more and more money. Google owns its own cloud and its own AI chips. Google owns the entire stack to get a video hosted online. They also have $126 billion in cash on hand to deploy wherever they so desire. They can take a $100 billion dollar hit on an AI or YouTube investment and still be in the black.

YouTube Shorts have changed the game for YouTube creators. What was once a challenge to upload 10 and 15 minute videos became much more accessible with 10-15 second short videos that can be shared from any smartphone in seconds. If you are a yoga or pilates influencer that has a large following on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, you could greatly benefit by understanding the YouTube Shorts algorithm.
